Teacher Terms
This is the agreement between you and Wahy Academy as a teacher. It is written the same way we write everything else here: plainly, with the money parts stated out loud rather than buried. Teaching a class on the platform means you accept it.

Who this agreement is with
This agreement is between you — the teacher — and Wahy Academy. It sits alongside the student Terms of Service, which govern our agreement with the families you teach.
You teach as an independent contractor, not an employee. You are not on a payroll, we do not withhold tax for you, and nothing here creates an employment relationship, a partnership or an exclusivity arrangement. You are free to teach elsewhere, provided you keep the commitments you have made to students here.
There are no shifts here and no minimum hours. You decide which hours you make available and how many students you take on; we place students into the times you opened. What you do commit to is the classes you have actually accepted — a booked class is a promise to a family, and that is the only obligation this agreement creates on your time.
Joining the academy
Every teacher is vetted before a single student is placed with them. That means a Tajweed audition, a review of your Ijazah or certification, proof of identity, and a conversation about how you teach children.
- Everything on your profile — name, credentials, experience, languages — must be true and yours. A forged credential ends the agreement immediately.
- Keep your contact details and payout details current. We pay to what is on file.
- Your account is yours alone. Nobody else teaches your classes under your name.
What we ask in the classroom
- Be in the room before the student is, with a working camera, microphone and a connection that holds.
- Teach the class that was booked — the course, the level and the length the family paid for.
- Mark attendance and leave a short note on progress after each class. This is what the family sees, and it is how the class is confirmed as delivered.
- Speak to a child the way you would want your own child spoken to. Patience is part of the job, not a bonus.
If a student is repeatedly late, absent or struggling, tell us early. We would rather rearrange a schedule than lose a family quietly.
Your schedule
Your availability in the portal is yours to set — nobody assigns you hours. It is also a promise, because families book locked weekly times against it, and a slot you leave open is a slot we will fill.
- Keep your availability accurate. Close a time before it is booked, not after.
- Once a weekly time is locked in with a student, changing it needs notice and our agreement, because it moves somebody else's week too.
- Tell us about holidays, exams or travel as far ahead as you can, so students are moved rather than dropped.
Staying in touch
Everything about a student goes through the portal. It is the record — for you as much as for us — and WhatsApp or email are only nudges pointing back to it. Keep those notifications switched on: you can choose the channel, but not switch off class alerts and then say you were never told.
Every commitment below attaches to work you have already accepted. None of them asks you to be available at a time we picked.
- A booking request: accept it, decline it, or propose another time. Declining is a complete answer. A request left unanswered for 24 hours may be offered to another teacher.
- A message about a student you teach: answer within 24 hours.
- Anything about a class starting within the next 48 hours — cover, a reschedule, a problem with the student: answer the same day.
- On the day of a class you have accepted: be reachable from ten minutes before it until it ends. That is what the reminder ten minutes out is for.
- If you cannot start a class, tell us before the start time, not after it. A message at 19:02 about a 19:00 class is a no-show with an apology attached.
- Holidays and planned absence: seven days' notice where you can give it. Illness: as soon as you know.
Your time outside your own hours
Outside the availability you set, and outside the classes you accepted, nothing is expected of you. You are not required to watch the portal, answer at night, be reachable on your days off, or explain why you were not. Being unreachable in your own time is never held against you and never affects what you are offered.
We do not set your hours, we do not require a minimum number of them, and the section above is not a shift by another name — it is what you owe on work you chose to take on. If you take on nothing, none of it applies.
Missed and cancelled classes
- Need to cancel? Give at least 24 hours' notice and we will move the class at no cost to anyone.
- A class you do not attend, with no notice, is not paid — and the student is rescheduled or credited at their choice.
- A class the student misses without 24 hours' notice counts as taken, and you are paid for it in full. You are not penalised for somebody else's no-show.
- Illness, bereavement and genuine emergencies are handled as what they are. Tell us and we deal with it.
Repeated no-shows or late cancellations are the one thing that ends a teaching agreement here quickly, because they cost a family their trust and we cannot buy that back.
What you earn
You are paid an hourly rate per student, agreed with you in advance. What the family pays for their plan is a separate number and does not change yours — there is no commission taken off your rate after the fact, and no sliding scale that quietly worsens.
- Classes are paid pro-rata by their actual length: a 45-minute class pays three quarters of your hourly rate.
- Your rate is snapshotted onto each class when it is delivered. A later rate change only ever applies to future classes — it never rewrites what you were already told you had earned.
- Trial classes are free to the family and are not paid by default. When a trial converts into a paid plan, we can award you half an hour at your rate for it, and we normally do.
- Bonuses — for covering at short notice, exceptional work, or anything else we owe you on top of taught classes — are added to your ledger with the reason attached.
When earnings appear
A class lands in your earnings ledger once it has ended and its attendance has been confirmed — by the classroom itself, by the student, or by an admin reviewing it. We aim for that to happen within 24 hours of the class.
- Cancelled and no-show classes never accrue.
- If a class has no rate set on it yet, it waits in a review queue rather than being frozen at zero. Nothing is lost — it accrues once the rate is set.
- Your ledger is visible to you at all times, class by class, with the rate and minutes used for each line.
Getting paid
You withdraw when you want to, rather than waiting on a fixed payday. Request a withdrawal from your earnings page and it takes your whole cleared balance; an admin reviews it and sends the money.
- The minimum balance for a withdrawal is $20.
- We aim to send an approved payout within 24 hours of the request.
- Payouts go out by InstaPay, Vodafone Cash, Orange Cash, Etisalat Cash, WE Pay, Fawry, Telda or bank transfer — whichever you nominate.
- The name and account you give us must be yours. We do not pay a third party on your behalf.
- If a withdrawal is rejected — wrong details, or something that needs checking — the balance is released straight back to you with the reason, not held.
Currency
Your rate and your balance are quoted in US dollars, because that is what families pay in and it keeps every teacher's rate comparable. The money itself is sent to you in your own local currency — Egyptian pounds for an Egyptian wallet, InstaPay address or bank account — not in dollars.
- We convert your balance at the rate on the day we send the payout, and we tell you the rate we used on the payout record.
- You receive the full converted amount. We do not keep a margin on the conversion, and there is no academy fee for withdrawing.
- Any fee or spread charged by your own bank, wallet or transfer provider is theirs, and is yours to bear — we cannot see or control it.
- If you are paid outside Egypt, or want a different currency, ask us and we will agree it with you in writing before the first payout.
Because the exchange rate moves, the same dollar balance is not always the same number of pounds. We do not adjust your dollar rate to compensate for that in either direction unless we tell you we are changing your rate.
Holds and corrections
We can pause a payout while a genuine dispute is being resolved — a class a family says was not delivered, a safeguarding concern, or a suspected duplicate. If that happens you are told why, and it is resolved rather than left open.
If a ledger entry is wrong in either direction, we correct it and tell you what changed. Corrections are recorded, not silent.
Tax
As an independent contractor you are responsible for declaring and paying your own tax and any social insurance in the country you live in. We do not withhold it and we do not issue employment tax forms. We will give you a statement of what you were paid whenever you ask.
Students stay with the academy
Students come to you through the academy's marketing, vetting and support, and we carry the safeguarding responsibility for every class. So while you teach here, and for six months after a student's last class with you:
- Do not arrange or accept payment for classes with an academy student outside the platform.
- Do not move an academy student to a private arrangement, your own school, or another platform.
- Do not share personal contact details or social accounts with students or their families. Message them in the portal, where there is a record that protects you as much as them.
This is not about owning anyone. A family that chooses to leave is free to leave. It is about not being taught around after we introduced you.
Materials and recording
Material you create stays yours. By uploading it you give us permission to store it, share it with your students, and show it in the classroom — nothing more.
Do not record, screenshot, stream or publish a class, or a child's voice or face, without written permission from their parent. Academy branding, curriculum and platform content stay ours and are not reused elsewhere.
Safeguarding
Most of the people you teach are children, and this section is the one with no flexibility in it.
- Teach in the platform classroom. Do not meet a child on another app, in private, or in person.
- Keep the camera on and the conversation about the lesson.
- Report anything that worries you about a child's safety to us the same day, even if you are unsure. Raising it is never the wrong call.
- A safeguarding breach ends the agreement immediately and is reported to the appropriate authority where the law requires it.
Student information
What you learn about a family through teaching them — names, ages, contact details, circumstances, progress — is theirs. Use it to teach them and for nothing else, do not keep copies outside the platform, and do not pass it on. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle it.
What we owe you in return
Response times that only run one way are not a standard, they are a demand. Ours:
- A question about your earnings or a payout: answered within 24 hours.
- A safeguarding concern you raise: acted on the same day.
- A dispute about your pay: resolved, or explained with a date, within five working days.
- A change to your rate, these terms, or anything else affecting what you are paid: told to you before it takes effect, never after.
- A named person to talk to, not a queue and not a form.
If we miss one of these, say so. Holding us to it is not a complaint, it is the agreement working.
Ending the agreement
You can stop teaching here at any time. We ask for two weeks' notice where you can give it, so students can be handed over rather than abandoned mid-course.
We can end the agreement too — for repeated no-shows, misconduct, a false credential, going around the platform, or a safeguarding breach. Everything you have properly earned is still paid out. Earnings from classes that were not delivered, or that were obtained dishonestly, are not.
For anything short of that — going quiet on messages, missing the notice periods above — the response is proportionate and in this order: a reminder, then a conversation, then a pause on new students being placed with you, and only then the end of the agreement. You will know where you stand at every step; nobody is dropped without having been told first.
If something goes wrong
Tell us. Email support@elbaz.dev or message us on WhatsApp, and a person will answer — about a payout, a student, a schedule, or a decision you think we got wrong. We would rather fix it than have you find out we cannot be told.
Changes to these terms
If we change anything that affects your pay, your notice periods or your obligations, we will tell you before it takes effect — not by quietly editing this page. The date at the top always reflects the last substantive change.
